Multiply the number of ounces by 28.35 and you have grams. There are two kinds of ounces. The avoirdupois ounce (28.35 g) is used for food, postage, and general weight. The troy ounce (31.10 g) is used for precious metals like gold and silver. Do not confuse weight ounces with fluid ounces. A fluid ounce is a volume measurement (about 29.57 mL), not a weight. An ounce of water happens to weigh close to a fluid ounce (about 29.6 grams), but an ounce of honey weighs about 42 grams despite occupying the same fluid ounce of volume.
