Privacy Policy

Your files stay on your device, by default.
Nearly every tool on clevr.tools runs entirely in your browser. When you compress an image, convert a file, or generate a QR code, the processing happens locally on your machine — we never see the file. The rare tool that needs a server is always labeled before you use it; see “AI-Powered Tools” below for exactly what that means.
How the Tools Work
Local tools use browser APIs — the Canvas API, the File API, and JavaScript libraries that run entirely on your device. When you drop a file into one of these tools, it's read directly into your browser's memory and processed there. The result is handed back to you as a download. We never see the file, and neither does any external server.
Files exist only in your browser's memory during processing. When you close the tab or navigate away, they're gone. We have no copies and no way to retrieve them.
Usage Analytics
We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site — which tools get used, which pages are visited, and how traffic flows. Our custom tool events are limited to an allowlisted tool identifier and lifecycle details such as success, failure category, or bounded duration. They do not include file contents, filenames, clipboard data, text inputs, or exception messages. Google may process standard visit and device data under its own privacy policy.
We don't ask for names or email addresses. There are no accounts or sign-ups.
Advertising
clevr.tools does not currently run ads. If we add Google AdSense in the future, this page will be updated first. AdSense may set cookies and use your browsing history to show personalized ads — that's Google's system, and we won't have access to that data or control how ads are targeted.
When ads do launch, you'll be able to opt out of personalized ads through Google's Ad Settings, or install an ad blocker if you prefer not to see ads at all.

Cookies
We don't set any first-party cookies of our own. Google Analytics and Google AdSense may set third-party cookies as described in their respective policies. Your dark/light mode preference is stored in your browser's local storage — it stays on your device and is never sent anywhere.
AI-Powered Tools
A small number of tools use AI models too large to run in a browser tab, so they may need to send a file to a server for processing. Those capabilities remain unavailable unless the tool identifies the processor and presents verified data handling terms before submission. File X-Ray and the experimental Background Remover are currently disabled because their processor, retention, training, and deletion terms have not been fully verified. Do not submit sensitive files to an unavailable or experimental route. Tools explicitly described as local continue to process files in the browser.

Our tools and pages may contain links to external websites. We're not responsible for the privacy practices of those sites. If you follow a link to an external site, that site's own privacy policy applies.
Changes to This Policy
If we make meaningful changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. The core commitment — that local tools will never upload your files — won't change. If we ever needed to change that, we'd make it obvious.
