clevr.tools for AI assistants

clevr.tools runs a free MCP server, so an AI assistant can use nine of the site's tools directly: random picks, a Secret Santa draw, countdowns, unit and data-size conversion, and a loan payment calculator. There is no account, no API key and no sign-in. Each tool uses the same code as the matching page on this site, so the assistant and the website give the same answer. Every answer ends with a link to the matching page with your inputs filled in, so you can adjust them yourself.

Connect it

Server address (Streamable HTTP, no authentication): https://www.clevr.tools/mcp

  1. Claude. Open the connectors settings, add a custom connector, and paste the address above. Leave any sign-in options empty.
  2. ChatGPT. Where your plan offers developer mode or custom apps, add an app or connector with the address above and choose “no authentication”.
  3. Other MCP clients. Point the client at the address as a remote Streamable HTTP server.

This server is not yet listed in the Claude or ChatGPT directories. Until it is, connect it by address as above. All tools are marked read-only except the Secret Santa draw, which is marked as not read-only because its answer names every pairing.

The nine tools

Spin the wheel spin_wheel
Picks one or more winners at random from a list of names or options, like spinning a prize wheel. Each entry can have an optional weight to change its odds; the response includes each winner's exact chance. Winners are drawn without repeats.
Draw Secret Santa pairs draw_secret_santa
Matches everyone in a gift exchange so each person gives to exactly one person and nobody draws themselves. Optional rules stop certain pairs, such as partners, and can force a single loop. Returns every giver and receiver pairing in the response, so the pairings are visible to everyone in this conversation. Nothing is stored.
Days until a date or holiday countdown
Counts the calendar days until Christmas, New Year's Day, or any date, in a given time zone. For the two holidays it also returns weeks, sleeps, weekdays and the hours, minutes and seconds left. A past date returns a negative number of days.
Flip a coin flip_coin
Flips one or more fair coins. Returns each result in order, the heads and tails counts, and the longest streak.
Roll dice roll_dice
Rolls dice written in standard notation, such as "d20", "2d6+3" or "4d6 drop lowest", and can repeat the roll. Returns every die, which ones counted, and the total.
Generate random numbers random_numbers
Generates random numbers in a range, with optional decimals, no repeats and sorting. Every number in the range is equally likely.
Convert units convert_units
Converts a value between units within one category (length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, time, data, pressure, energy, frequency, fuel-economy, angle, power, force, cooking). Units can be given by symbol (for example "km", "°F", "cup") or by name (for example "Kilometers").
Convert data sizes convert_data_size
Converts digital storage and data amounts, in decimal units (kB, MB, GB, TB, PB: 1,000-based), binary units (KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB: 1,024-based) and bits (bit, kbit, Mbit, Gbit, Tbit, Pbit). Units: B, kB, MB, GB, TB, PB, KiB, MiB, GiB, TiB, PiB, bit, kbit, Mbit, Gbit, Tbit, Pbit. Units are case-sensitive.
Calculate a loan payment calculate_loan
Works out the monthly payment, total interest and total cost of a fixed-rate loan with equal monthly payments, from the amount borrowed, the yearly interest rate and the term. Figures are in the same currency as the amount entered, rounded to cents. It is an estimate, not a quote.

Things to ask

  • Pick a winner for our office raffle from Ana, Ben, Cy and Di.
  • How many days until Christmas in Chicago?
  • Convert a 26.2 mile marathon to kilometers.
  • What is the monthly payment on a $250,000 loan at 6.5% over 30 years?
  • Set up a Secret Santa for Ana, Ben, Cy, Di and Ed, but Ana and Ben are partners so they should not draw each other.
  • Roll 4d6 and drop the lowest die, six times, for my new character's ability scores.
  • Flip a coin 20 times and tell me the longest streak.
  • How many MiB is 1.5 GB? And how many megabits is a 25 MB file?
  • Set up Secret Santa for Ana, Ben, Cy, Di, Ed and Flo, with Ana and Ben not drawing each other.

What it does and does not do

These are the checks we run against the live server, written down so you can see the limits as well as the uses.

Works as described

  1. “Pick a winner for our office raffle from Ana, Ben, Cy and Di.” uses spin_wheel. Returns one winner from the four names, with each entry's chance at 25%, and a link to the wheel with those entries filled in.
  2. “How many days until Christmas in Chicago?” uses countdown. Returns the calendar days until the next Christmas in America/Chicago, with sleeps and weekdays, and a link to the live Christmas countdown.
  3. “Convert a 26.2 mile marathon to kilometers.” uses convert_units. Returns 26.2 mi = 42.1648 km (42.164813 km exactly), and a link to the length converter with the values filled in.
  4. “What is the monthly payment on a $250,000 loan at 6.5% over 30 years?” uses calculate_loan. Returns a monthly payment of $1,580.17, with total interest and total paid, and a link to the loan calculator with the numbers filled in.
  5. “Set up a Secret Santa for Ana, Ben, Cy, Di and Ed, but Ana and Ben are partners so they should not draw each other.” uses draw_secret_santa. Returns five pairings in which everyone gives to one person, nobody draws themselves, and Ana and Ben are not matched. The link goes to the Secret Santa page, with no names in it, for a private draw.

Not what it is for

  1. “Convert 250 US dollars to euros at today's exchange rate.” The app is not used: it has no currency tool and no exchange-rate data. The assistant should answer another way or say it cannot.
  2. “Which stocks should I buy this month to beat the market?” The app is not used: none of its tools give financial advice. The loan tool only does payment arithmetic.
  3. “Draw a Secret Santa for my team and email each person their match tomorrow morning.” The app can compute the pairings but cannot email or schedule. It must not claim to have sent anything.

Privacy

  • Each request is answered from the arguments it carries and then forgotten. Nothing is saved, and there are no sessions, accounts or cookies.
  • We do not log what you send: the names, entries and numbers in a request are not recorded. Like any web server, ours handles your IP address to answer the request and to limit abuse; limits are counted in memory from a salted hash and are not kept.
  • What you give an assistant, and what it passes to this server, is also governed by that assistant's own privacy terms.
  • The Secret Santa tool puts every pairing in the conversation, so everyone who can see the chat can see who has whom. For a draw where each person privately learns only their own match, use the Secret Santa page.
  • See the privacy policy for the whole site.
