Scoring System

StreakMultiplier
0–4 words1x
5–9 words2x
10–19 words3x
20–29 words4x
30+ words5x

Each word scores its character count multiplied by your current streak multiplier. Build long streaks without mistakes for the highest scores.

Tips for High Scores

  1. Accuracy is more important than raw speed — broken streaks reset your multiplier
  2. Start with easy mode to build confidence and learn the rhythm
  3. Words auto-submit when typed correctly — no need to press Enter or Space
  4. Keep your eyes on the word, not the input field — trust your typing
  5. Practice with our WPM Test to build raw speed

Difficulty Levels

Easy uses common 4–5 letter words that most people type frequently. Medium uses 6–8 letter words that require more precise typing. Hard uses 8–12 letter words including technical vocabulary that tests both speed and word familiarity.

When to Use This

Word Blitz is typing practice disguised as an arcade game. Words fly at you one at a time, you type them as fast as you can, and a streak multiplier rewards you for keeping your accuracy up. It is the perfect tool when you want to improve your typing speed but a plain typing test feels like homework. The score chasing and multiplier system create a "just one more round" loop that keeps you practicing without it feeling like practice.

It is especially effective as a warm-up before a formal typing test or a long writing session. A couple of 30-second rounds on Easy mode gets your fingers loose and your brain into typing mode. For a real challenge, try Hard mode with a 90-second timer — maintaining a high streak multiplier on 10-letter words requires both speed and intense focus.

Word Blitz also trains a specific skill that standard typing tests do not: fast word recognition. Because each word appears individually and you need to type it before the next one arrives, your brain learns to process and execute words as single units rather than letter-by-letter. This "chunking" skill directly transfers to faster prose typing.

Good to Know

The multiplier is everything. Your streak multiplier scales from 1x up to 5x at 30+ consecutive correct words. A single mistake resets it to 1x. This means one error on word 29 costs you far more points than the same error on word 2. Protect your streak — slow down slightly on hard words rather than rushing and breaking it.

Easy mode is not just for beginners. Short, common words let you build massive streaks and practice rapid-fire execution. Even fast typists use Easy mode to warm up and train their burst speed on familiar words.

Hard mode trains vocabulary recognition. Longer, less common words force your brain to process unfamiliar letter combinations. This is great training for improving your reading speed alongside your typing speed.

Watch your WPM trend, not your score. The score is fun, but the WPM counter tells you if you are actually getting faster. A high score with low WPM means you are playing it safe — push yourself to type faster even if your streak breaks occasionally.
