When to use this

You need to send a document that looks the same on every screen, every printer, every operating system. That's the entire point of PDF — it freezes your layout. Word files reflow based on the reader's installed fonts, margins, and Word version. PDFs don't.

Job applications almost always ask for PDF. So do grant submissions, legal filings, and client deliverables. If someone says "send me the document," they usually mean a PDF — whether they say so or not.

There's also the edit-prevention angle. A .docx is trivially editable. A PDF signals "this is final." It's not bulletproof (PDFs can be edited), but it sets the right expectation.

Good to know

Text formatting converts well. Headings, bold, italic, bullet lists, numbered lists, and tables all come through cleanly. These are the building blocks of most documents, and they're handled reliably.

Complex layouts may shift. Multi-column layouts, text boxes, floating images, and custom positioning are harder to replicate outside the Word rendering engine. If your document uses these heavily, expect some visual differences.

Fonts won't match exactly. The PDF uses Roboto as the base font. Your original Word fonts (Calibri, Times New Roman, etc.) won't carry over. The text content is identical, but the typography will look slightly different.

For pixel-perfect results, use Word itself. Word's built-in File, Export, PDF uses its own rendering engine and preserves everything. This tool is for when you don't have Word installed, or you need a quick conversion without opening a desktop app.

Your file stays on your device. Unlike most online converters, nothing is uploaded. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using Mammoth.js and jsPDF.
